Phoenix Greens School of
Learning, a leading K–12 institution in Hyderabad, proudly announces that Sruthi Lakshmi
Mannepalli, a Grade 9F student, represented India at the prestigious 1M1B
Activate Impact Summit held at the United Nations in Geneva. This rare and
remarkable achievement positions Sruthi among a select group of young Indian
innovators creating meaningful social impact on a global platform.
At
the Summit, Sruthi presented her vision-health initiative “Eye Can Do
Wonders”, a project designed to address the critical yet often overlooked
issue of early vision detection in children. Developed under the 1M1B Future
Foundation, the initiative aims to identify eyesight problems at an early
stage, ensure timely access to eye check-ups, provide corrective measures such
as glasses, and empower children to reach their full learning potential.
Through her mission, Sruthi hopes to eliminate preventable vision barriers so
young learners can grow, learn, and thrive confidently.
A
reflection of Phoenix Greens' emphasis on experiential learning, mentorship,
and self-expression, Sruthi’s journey extends well beyond her UN
representation. She is a multi-talented performer and achiever. She has trained in Kuchipudi for eight years and
is just a year away from completing her Junior Diploma. She has performed at
celebrated cultural venues like Shilpa Kala Vedika and Ravindra Bharathi. She
plays the Veena, has been learning Carnatic music for five years, and has
performed at several events. Her creative expression also extends to
writing—she contributed an original fictional story titled “Board Games of the
Gods” to the school magazine. She is a finalist at the Bowers 18 Under 18
competition and a winner of the school TechFest Competition for her innovation
prototype “Clean Bot.”
Sharing her pride, Ms Anju Sharma, Principal of Phoenix Greens School
of Learning, said: Sruthi’s achievement
on a global platform like the United Nations is both inspiring and incredibly
well-deserved. She represents the spirit of curiosity, creativity, and
compassion that we strive to nurture at Phoenix Greens. Her commitment to
solving a real and pressing problem, children’s eye health, reflects her
maturity and passion for social good. We are proud to support her journey and
remain committed to nurturing young changemakers who think boldly, act
responsibly, and lead with purpose.”
Reflecting on her experience, Sruthi shared, “The smallest change in
perspective can open a child’s world to endless possibilities.”
Guided
by its belief that learning must prepare students not just for exams but for
life, Phoenix Greens School of Learning nurtures an environment where students
are encouraged to question, express themselves, take initiative, and lead with
confidence. Through experiential learning, strong mentorship, and global
exposure, the school equips learners with the skills and mindset required to
navigate the future with assurance. Sruthi’s achievement at the United Nations
is a testament to Phoenix Greens’ commitment to shaping socially responsible
leaders of tomorrow.
