Rajpal Yadav Shares Emotional Ordeal as He Surrenders to Court in Cheque-Bounce Case

Veteran Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav opened up about his hardships just before surrendering to authorities at Tihar Jail in connection with a long-running cheque-bounce and repayment case involving unpaid dues. The actor became emotional as he spoke about his financial struggles and lack of support before beginning his jail sentence.

Yadav surrendered on February 5, after the Delhi High Court rejected his request for more time to settle the payments. The case stems from money borrowed years ago for a film project that failed, leading to unpaid dues that reportedly ballooned to around ₹9 crore over time. The court stressed that fame does not put anyone above the law and directed Yadav to surrender when he failed to meet the deadlines.

Before entering the prison, Yadav spoke candidly about how difficult the situation has been for him. In a conversation with the media, he said in Hindi, “Sir, kya karoon? Mere paas paise nahin hain” (Sir, what can I do? I don’t have the money). He added, “Aur koi upaay nahin dikhta” (I don’t see another way out). Reflecting on his situation and the lack of support, he said, “Sir, yahan hum sab akele hain. There are no friends. I have to deal with this crisis on my own.”

These words showed just how emotional the actor felt as he faced jail time. The High Court had earlier made it clear that it could not grant further relief because Yadav had repeatedly failed to follow through on payment commitments. Judges pointed out that even with partial payments and assurances, the actor had not fully paid what was owed, leaving the court with no choice but to enforce the surrender order.

After news of his surrender spread, several colleagues from the film industry stepped forward with support. Actor Sonu Sood took to social media and wrote about Yadav’s contributions and the need for the industry to stand together in tough times. In his note, Sood said that helping Yadav was not charity but a matter of dignity and solidarity for a fellow artist.

Stars like Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Mika Singh, and Gurmeet Choudhary also offered words of support or help. Gurmeet Choudhary said it “breaks my heart to see a senior going through such a painful phase,” and urged the film fraternity to come together compassionately.

Yadav, known for his comic roles in films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Hungama and Chup Chup Ke, has worked in more than a hundred films. He was sentenced to serve six months in jail in the matter, and his bail hearing was postponed for a later date.

The actor’s wife, Radha Yadav, also thanked industry members for their support and said the family hopes for a positive outcome in future court proceedings.
