Netflix’s Baramulla trailer sets a dark and gripping tone right from the first frame. Set in Kashmir, the film blends mystery, psychological tension, and supernatural elements without over-dramatising anything.
Manav Kaul plays IPS officer Ridwaan Shafi Sayyid, who moves to Baramulla with his wife and children. What begins as a regular transfer turns unsettling as cases of missing children and strange incidents in their new home start to connect. The trailer builds curiosity without giving away too much, keeping the suspense tight.
The atmosphere is one of the film’s strongest points. Kashmir isn’t shown as just a scenic location. The mountains, silence, and cold weather add a haunting stillness, making the mystery feel heavier. The mood is unsettling. It avoids jump scares and instead relies on tension and slow-burning fear.
Manav Kaul stands out with a grounded and intense performance, which is calm on the surface, but clearly haunted by what he is facing. His character's conflict between duty, fear, and protecting his family looks like the emotional core of the film.
What Works

Suspense builds gradually, feels natural
Talking about the series, creator and director Aditya Suhas Jambhale said that Baramulla is not just a usual mystery thriller. The trailer only shows a small glimpse of the world, but the full story goes much deeper. It mixes suspense with strong emotional and psychological themes.
He explained that Baramulla shows two kinds of fear: the fear around us in the outside world, and the fear inside our own mind that we try to avoid but cannot run from. Jambhale also said that working with Netflix, Jio Studios, and B62 Studios, along with producers Aditya Dhar, Lokesh Dhar, and Jyoti Deshpande, helped him tell this story on a bigger scale and with honesty.
He added that the whole team wanted to push the boundaries of the thriller genre and bring to life the idea that he, Aditya Dhar, and writer Monal Thaakar had imagined from the very beginning.
Overall Impression
Baramulla promises a serious, atmospheric mystery-thriller with a supernatural edge. It doesn't shout fear, it quietly creeps in. If the film delivers the same control and depth we see in the trailer, it could turn out to be one of the year’s most engaging thrillers.
