The film Jatadhara starring Sudheer Babu and Sonakshi Sinha blends mythology, horror and modern-day logic. Directed by Venkat Kalyan and Abhishek Jaiswal, it tries to explore supernatural forces in a temple setting while questioning faith and reason.
What the story is about
The plot revolves around a powerful ancient ritual, the “Pisachi Bandhan”, that was used to guard hidden treasure. When the seal is broken, a fearsome spirit named Dhan Pishachini (Sonakshi Sinha) gets released. Sudheer Babu plays Shiva, a rational ghost-hunter who does not believe in the supernatural. But his investigation forces him to confront spooky events, myths, and beliefs he never imagined.
What works
-
Visually the film is strong. The sets, the temple environment and the cinematography give it a grand look.
-
Performances are decent: Sudheer Babu carries the lead role with conviction, and Sonakshi Sinha makes her mark in a bold avatar.
-
The idea of mixing mythological horror with modern logic gives the film a fresh flavour.
What doesn’t
-
The pace is uneven. The first half moves slowly and some plot points feel delayed or predictable.
-
The second half picks up, but some scenes turn overly dramatic and the climax is weaker than expected.
-
A few characters feel under-used and some visual effects could have been better.
Final verdict
Jatadhara is a mixed bag. If you like films that combine horror, spirituality and mythology, it offers enough interesting moments. But if you expect tight storytelling and constant thrills, you may find it only average.
