Haq Trailer Review: Yami Gautam

The Haq trailer begins with a sweet silence, the kind that feels heavy even before anyone speaks. Within moments, Yami Gautam appears on screen, and her sharp dialogue breaks through:

“Shauhar koi biryani ya sheer qorma nahi jise baant ke barkat hogi.”
It’s bold, emotional, and instantly shows that this movie isn’t afraid to showcase what went on behind the infamous Mohd. Ahmed Khan v. Shah Bano Begum

Directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, Haq is inspired by the real Shah Bano case, which questioned women’s rights and justice in India.

But instead of jumping straight into a courtroom, the trailer slowly builds emotion. We see Yami fighting not just for herself but for truth, respect, and the right to live with dignity.

The story follows Shazia Bano, played by Yami Gautam. Her husband Abbas, played by Emraan Hashmi, leaves her and their children behind. What begins as a personal fight soon turns into a national debate on faith, women’s rights, and justice. The film takes inspiration from a real Supreme Court case, which makes it even more powerful and real.

But the trailer makes one thing clear. This is not a courtroom film. It’s a family drama filled with pain, anger, and courage. You can feel Shazia’s struggle and helplessness. Yet, beneath all of that, there is strength and fire.

Yami Gautam looks brilliant as Shazia. We’ve seen her in strong roles before, but this one feels special.

Yami Gautam proves once again why she’s one of the most fearless actresses today. Her performance feels real and full of emotion. Emraan Hashmi is just as striking. He plays Abbas with the perfect balance of charm and cruelty. He doesn’t look like a typical villain. He feels real, unpredictable, and confusing in the best way. You don’t know whether to hate him or feel sorry for him, and that makes his performance interesting. The two share a strong screen presence that feels natural and intense at the same time.

The trailer is intense from start to finish. The background music adds to the drama. The visuals are strong and full of emotion. There is nothing sugarcoated about this story. It feels raw and real, and that’s what makes it hit harder.

Haq seems to be more than just a movie. It looks like a story that will make people think and talk. It touches on faith, patriarchy, and justice, but without feeling too heavy or forced. It looks like a film that wants to start a conversation. If this trailer is anything to go by, the movie is going to be bold, emotional, and unforgettable.

Haq, Starring Yami Gautam, Emraan Hashmi, Vartika Singh, Danish Husain, Sheeba Chadha, and Aseem Hattangady is set to release on November 7.
