NEET UG 2026 Registration Instructions and Important Details

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued important instructions and advice for students preparing to register for the NEET UG 2026 medical entrance exam. Candidates are being told to prepare and update key documents well before the registration process starts to avoid problems later.

Update Important Documents First

Before filling out the NEET UG 2026 application form, students must make sure that the following documents are correct, valid and up-to-date:

  • Aadhaar Card: Check that your name, date of birth, gender, photograph, address and biometric information (where applicable) are correct.

  • UDID Card: Persons with disabilities (PwD) must have a valid and updated UDID card.

  • Category Certificate: If applying under a reserved category (like EWS/SC/ST/OBC-NCL), ensure your certificate is valid and issued by the proper authority.

The NTA has warned that incorrect or outdated documents can cause issues in verification, counselling or even rejection of the application later.

Expected Registration Date

The official NEET UG 2026 application form is expected to be released in February 2026, similar to previous years, and the registration window will typically remain open for about one month. Candidates should visit the official website (neet.nta.nic.in) to register once the form is live.

How to Apply for NEET UG 2026

The registration process will be done online only. Students should follow these steps once registration begins:

  1. Visit the official website: neet.nta.nic.in.

  2. Click the link for New Registration.

  3. Fill in basic details and create a password.

  4. Log in with your registration details and complete the application form.

  5. Upload all required documents and pay the registration fee online.

  6. Submit the form and save the confirmation page for future reference.

Application Fees

Students will need to pay the registration fee online. The expected fee structure (based on previous patterns) is:

  • General: ₹1,700

  • Gen-EWS/OBC-NCL: ₹1,600

  • SC/ST/PwBD/Third Gender: ₹1,000

  • NRI/OCI/PIO/Foreign Candidates: ₹9,500

Fees can usually be paid through credit/debit card, net banking, UPI or e-wallets.

Why This Matters

Ensuring all documents are correct before registration will make the process smoother. Any mismatch between your Aadhaar or category details and the application could cause delays or rejection when your form is being verified later.
