Team Avitar Motorsports of VIT Bhopal shines at SAE India H-BAJA 2026

Bhopal: Team Avitar Motorsports from the School of Mechanical Engineering, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) Bhopal, delivered a standout performance at the recently concluded SAE India H-BAJA 2026, held at the NATRAX facility in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. The event brought together the country’s leading collegiate motorsport teams alongside senior representatives from SAE India, automobile manufacturers, testing agencies, and emerging mobility startups.

Competing in the newly introduced hydrogen-powered H-BAJA category, Team Avitar demonstrated strong technical depth, design thinking, and industry readiness. The team secured All India Rank 2 (1st Runner-Up) in the Sales Presentation, underscoring its ability to convert complex engineering solutions into compelling, market-ready propositions. It also achieved AIR 2 in the Sustainability Event (Virtual Round), reflecting a clear focus on clean energy adoption and responsible vehicle engineering.

Further reinforcing its national standing, Team Avitar ranked AIR 10 in Cost Presentation, AIR 10 in CAE (Computer Aided Engineering), and AIR 12 in the Design Presentation, competing against some of the most accomplished student teams in the country. The team successfully cleared the stringent HCNG Kit Inspection and finished with an overall All India Rank of 17, marking a consistent all-round performance across technical and managerial domains.

A highlight for the institution was the conferment of the Dronacharya Award for Best Faculty Advisor on Dr. Prashant G.K., in recognition of his exemplary mentorship and leadership. The team operates under the guidance of the university’s senior leadership, including the Pro-Vice Chancellor, the Registrar, and the Principal of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Prof. S. Balaguru.

Team Avitar Motorsports acknowledged the sustained encouragement and support from the VIT Bhopal management, particularly in providing advanced infrastructure, resources, and academic flexibility.
