New Delhi: Punjab
National Bank (PNB), one of India’s leading public sector banks, marked its
initiative towards International Women’s Day by reaffirming its commitment to
women’s financial empowerment with the launch of the “PNB Digi Shrestha Digital
Loan Scheme.” This initiative is designed exclusively for existing women
customers who are members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under the National Rural
Livelihoods Mission (NRLM).
Aligned with the national vision of creating
‘Lakhpati Didis’ and fostering rural entrepreneurship, the Digi Shrestha scheme
promotes digital banking adoption while ensuring seamless, transparent, and
fast access to institutional credit. The scheme offers loan amounts of up to ₹5
lakh, a fully digital sanction and account opening process, minimal
documentation, and a simple, user-friendly application journey.
By leveraging technology, PNB is strengthening the
entrepreneurial ecosystem in rural India, supporting women-led enterprises, and
advancing financial inclusion. On this Women’s Day, the Bank celebrates the
resilience, ambition, and leadership of women across the country, reiterating
its commitment to stand by them at every step of their growth journey.
