Vaishnavi Sharma Earns Maiden India Call-Up for Sri Lanka Series

Young cricketer Vaishnavi Sharma has achieved a big milestone in her career after being selected for the Indian women’s cricket team for the upcoming T20 series against Sri Lanka. This is her first call-up to the senior national team.

Vaishnavi, who hails from Madhya Pradesh, is a left-arm spin bowler and has impressed selectors with her consistent performances over the past year. She became a household name earlier after delivering a standout performance in the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, where she took a rare hat-trick and finished among the top wicket-takers of the tournament.

Her strong form continued in domestic cricket, where she picked up the highest number of wickets in the Senior Women’s T20 competition. She also performed well in inter-zonal matches, which helped her stay in the selectors’ radar.

Despite missing out in the recent Women’s Premier League auction, Vaishnavi remained focused and kept delivering strong performances on the field. Her hard work has now paid off with a place in the Indian squad.

Vaishnavi has joined the national team camp in Bengaluru to prepare for the five-match T20 series, which begins later this month. Her selection is being seen as a proud moment for Madhya Pradesh cricket and an inspiration for young players across the country.
