The Indian Army successfully stopped an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district under Operation Pimple. According to officials, two terrorists were killed during the encounter that began late Monday night and continued into Tuesday morning.
The Operation
Army troops detected suspicious movement along the LoC in the Machhal sector of Kupwara. When the infiltrators were challenged, they opened fire on the soldiers, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire. The Army retaliated strongly, killing two terrorists on the spot.
Search and combing operations are continuing in the area to ensure that no other infiltrator has managed to cross the border. Security forces also recovered weapons, ammunition, and other war-like supplies from the site.
Background
The infiltration attempt comes amid increased vigilance along the LoC as winter approaches. Officials say that terror groups often try to send militants across the border before heavy snowfall closes the mountain passes.
Army’s Statement
An Army spokesperson confirmed that “two terrorists have been neutralised in the ongoing operation in Kupwara. The operation is still underway to ensure the area is completely sanitised.”
This latest encounter adds to a series of infiltration attempts foiled by security forces in recent weeks, reflecting heightened cross-border activity and the Army’s continued efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.
