Hiker Bhawna Dehariya to Receive Prestigious 'Vikram Award' as High Court Lifts Stay

Indore : Bhawna Dehariya, the renowned mountaineer from Madhya Pradesh who successfully summited Mount Everest, is now set to be conferred with the state’s most prestigious Vikram Award. The Indore High Court, in a crucial decision on Monday, lifted the stay previously imposed on the award, clearing the path for her honour under the Special Adventure Sports category.

The bench of Justice Pranay Verma heard the matter and ruled in favour of Bhawna Dehariya. This decision acknowledges her exceptional achievements and her significant contribution to the field of mountaineering. The award will be presented to her shortly at a ceremony organized by the State Government.

First Female Winner in Adventure Sports: Hailing from Tamia village in Chhindwara, Bhawna Dehariya has become the first female athlete from Madhya Pradesh to receive the Vikram Award in the Adventure Sports category. She is also among the first women from the state to climb Mount Everest.

Global Summits: Bhawna Dehariya has successfully hoisted the Indian flag on the highest peaks of five continents, including:

  • Mount Everest (Asia)

  • Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa)

  • Mount Kosciuszko (Australia)

  • Mount Elbrus (Europe)

  • Aconcagua (South America)

Bhawna and her four-year-old daughter, Siddhi, are also the Brand Ambassadors for the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign. Additionally, she holds a unique Guinness World Record for promoting the Indian Himalayas globally.

This award is a tribute to Bhawna Dehariya's courage, determination, and her efforts to bring glory to Madhya Pradesh through adventure sports.
