Delhi Blast Case: NIA Takes Over Investigation, 3 More Al-Falah University Doctors Detained

New Delhi — The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has officially taken over the probe into the deadly car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, which claimed several lives and injured many. According to NDTV, three more doctors from Faridabad’s Al-Falah University have been detained for questioning in connection with the blast.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, Dr. Umar Mohammad, and Dr. Shaheen Shahid, all associated with the university’s medical faculty. As per ANI, the trio was detained following the recovery of a large quantity of explosive materials linked to the blast.

Investigators earlier seized nearly 2,900 kilograms of ammonium nitrate and other explosive substances from two rooms rented by Dr. Shakeel in Faridabad, reported NDTV. Initial findings suggest that the car involved, a white Hyundai i20 was parked near the Red Fort for almost three hours before the explosion occurred.

Sources told Times Now that the Delhi Police Special Cell had already registered a case under sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) before transferring it to the NIA, given the suspected terror link. Officials are also examining whether the blast was part of a larger “white-collar terror network” involving professionals from various sectors.

As per India Today, the NIA will now focus on tracing the funding, procurement, and assembly of the explosives, along with identifying possible cross-border connections. Forensic teams continue to comb the Red Fort vicinity for clues, while multiple agencies coordinate their findings to piece together the chain of events that led to the explosion.

Authorities have assured that all those responsible will be brought to justice, as the investigation enters a crucial phase with the NIA at the helm.
