Coimbatore Gang-Rape Case: Police Arrest Three, Shoot Them in the Legs

Police in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, have arrested three men accused of kidnapping and gang-raping a 20-year-old college student near the Coimbatore airport on Sunday night. The student was with her boyfriend in a car when the accused arrived, attacked him, and took her away to a deserted place, where the crime was committed.

After the incident, the police formed special teams and searched for the suspects. Early on Monday morning, police traced them. When officers tried to arrest the men, the accused reportedly tried to escape and also attacked a police officer. To stop them, the police fired and shot them in the legs. The men were then taken into custody and shifted to the hospital for treatment under police security.

According to police sources, two of the three accused have previous criminal records and were recently out on bail. The case has led to strong public anger in Tamil Nadu, with many demanding strict punishment.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin condemned the crime and said such acts are “barbaric and inhuman.” He directed the police to take strict action and ensure the accused receive maximum punishment under the law.

The survivor is receiving medical and psychological support. Police are collecting evidence and CCTV footage to strengthen the case.
