Jaipur : IIHMR
University, has formally inaugurated its annual sports festival UMANG 2025–26, aligning the
celebration of youth energy and athletic excellence with the national Fit India Movement, a flagship
initiative of the Government of India aimed at promoting fitness as a way of
life.
The Fit
India Movement, launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, emphasizes preventive
healthcare and active lifestyles, particularly among India’s youth, an
objective that aligns closely with IIHMR University’s mandate in healthcare
education and public health leadership.
On this
occasion, the President of IIHMR University, Dr. P. R. Sodani, addressed the
students and highlighted the importance of sports, fitness, discipline, and
teamwork. He shared, “In an era marked by academic stress and constant
performance pressures, institutions of higher learning must nurture resilient
minds along with healthy bodies. Through UMANG, IIHMR University is
contributing to the national mission of building a fit, active, and productive
India.”
Scheduled
from 25 December 2025 to 5 January 2026,
the event will feature a wide range
of indoor and outdoor sporting events for more than 175 students.
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Sudhinder Singh Chowhan, Chairperson,
Sports Committee, who highlighted the collective efforts of students,
faculty, and organizers in promoting a culture of fitness on campus.
The
programme was coordinated by Mr.
Priyesh Chouhan and Mr. Reetik Raj, Sports Committee Coordinators, along
with the dedicated committee members.
