January has officially kicked off the entrance exam season in India, bringing crucial updates for students aiming for engineering, medical, design, management, and postgraduate admissions. With nearly 40 lakh aspirants appearing for entrance exams every year, this month plays a decisive role as applications for 9 major national and state-level entrance exams are either open or set to begin soon for March–April exam cycles.
From JEE Main and NEET UG to NIFT, BITSAT, VITEEE, and CUET PG, students now need to track multiple deadlines, eligibility rules, and exam schedules to avoid missing out on key opportunities.
Medical Aspirants: NEET UG Update
The NEET UG exam remains the single gateway for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in India. While the official notification is awaited, the syllabus has been released. Based on previous years, NEET registrations usually begin in January, with the exam conducted later in the year.
Engineering Entrance Exams in Focus
Engineering aspirants have multiple exams lined up:

JEE Main Session 2 (April attempt) registration is expected to begin soon after Session 1 concludes.

BITSAT applications are already open. Session 1 applications close on 16 March, while Session 2 forms will be available from 20 April to 2 May.

Design & Fashion Careers: NIFT Entrance Exam
Students targeting careers in fashion design and technology can apply for the NIFT Entrance Exam till 6 January. Late applications will be accepted with a ₹5,000 late fee until 10 January. The exam will be conducted in February.
State-Level Entrance Exams to Watch
