From Light to Life: VIT Bhopal Marks National Science Day 2026 with a Call to Question, Explore and Innovate

Sehore : VIT Bhopal University observed National Science Day with an engaging academic programme organised by the School of Advanced Sciences and Languages. The celebration commemorated the discovery of the 'Raman Effect' by Nobel Laureate Dr. C. V. Raman in 1928, and was supported by the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology (MPCST), Bhopal. The event was coordinated by Dr. Abhinav Kumar and Dr. Saurabh Mishra with the support of the university management.

The programme began with a welcome address that set a reflective and forward-looking tone. The Chief Guest, Dr. Varadharajan Srinivasan from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal, delivered the keynote lecture titled “From Light to Life: The Power of Asking Questions.” He emphasised that curiosity remains the starting point of every breakthrough and urged students to cultivate critical thinking and interdisciplinary engagement as essential tools for scientific progress and societal impact.

The event featured expert sessions across contemporary scientific domains. Dr. Siddhartha Maiti spoke on bioengineering and biomedical sciences, highlighting the mathematical frameworks that shape the understanding of biological systems. Dr. Rudra Kalyan Nayak delivered an address on Artificial Intelligence, examining emerging trends and the growing role of AI across research, industry and everyday life.

The celebration also included quiz and model presentation competitions with enthusiastic participation from students of C.M. Rise School, Ashta and Government High School, Kothari. In the quiz competition, C.M. Rise School, Ashta secured the first and second positions, while Government High School, Kothari achieved the third position. In the model presentation category, winning entries were selected from both C.M. Rise School, Ashta and Government High School, Kothari.

Prizes were distributed during the valedictory session by Dr. Varadharajan Srinivasan and Dr. Geetanjali Giri. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, reinforcing VIT Bhopal University’s commitment to nurturing scientific temper, strengthening school-university engagement and inspiring the next generation of innovators.
