Mumbai :
Runaya Metsource (“Runaya”), a Vedanta company providing advanced technological
solutions for circular economy and critical metal
recovery, achieved
significant progress in developing green, spherical gas-atomized Aluminium
Powder at Jharsuguda, Odisha with Eckart, a German-headquartered global leader
in aluminium granules and effect pigments.
Martin Babilas, CEO
of Altana AG, and Dr. Christian Przybyla, CEO
of ECKART, visited the site along with Naivedya Agarwal, Managing Director of
Runaya and other senior leaders.
Altana AG operates as a global specialty chemicals group, with Eckart as
one of its most important divisions specializing in effect pigments and
advanced material solutions. Together, they combine broad chemical innovation
capabilities with deep technical expertise in applications, supporting
industries ranging from automotive to cosmetics and packaging.
This also marked the first phase of the project,
with operations expected by end of 2026 and already drawing strong interest
from leading industry players.
The facility will produce high-quality aluminium
powder, supporting a sustainable, integrated value chain while reducing imports
and strengthening India’s advanced manufacturing sectors, like aerospace,
aviation, solar, catalysts, and effect pigments.
Martin
Babilas, CEO of Altana AG
said, “Our partnership with Runaya represents a powerful confluence of
technology, sustainability, and innovation. With its strong local expertise and
shared commitment to responsible manufacturing, Runaya is an ideal partner and this
collaboration further reinforces our commitment to carbon-neutral manufacturing
and building long-term global partnerships.”
Naivedya
Agarwal, Managing Director, Runaya said “The milestone demonstrates the consistent progress our
teams are making towards establishing an advanced materials facility in India. By
enabling the domestic manufacturing of high-value aluminium powders, this JV
strengthens India’s ability to move beyond basic metal supply towards the
development of engineered materials that support sophisticated, value-driven
industries.”
By
combining Eckart’s global leadership in effect pigments and aluminium powder
technologies with Runaya’s innovation-driven manufacturing and circular-economy
expertise, the joint venture aims to build a globally competitive advanced
materials ecosystem in India.
