MUMBAI: CopperTech Metals, a copper and cobalt producing company established by Vedanta Resources, has launched the roadshow for its proposed initial public offering (IPO). The company is preparing to list on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the proposed ticker symbol "CUX".
The company plans to raise approximately 423.5 million USD by issuing 2.35 crore (23.5 million) shares. The price band for the shares has been set at 16 to 18 USD per share. Based on this valuation, CopperTech Metals' potential market value could be around 3.57 billion USD (approximately $3.6 billion).
CopperTech Metals is a US-based entity of Vedanta Resources that owns and operates the Zambia-based Konkola Copper Mines (KCM). Konkola Copper Mines is considered one of the world's high-grade copper assets and could play a critical role in meeting the rising demand for copper driven by the global energy transition, artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, data center expansion, and electrification.
The company has planned an investment of approximately 2.7 billion USD over the next five years. Through this investment, CopperTech Metals aims to ramp up its copper production to average around 2.7 lakh tonnes per annum starting from the year 2030.
Vedanta has invested more than 3 billion USD in Konkola Copper Mines since 2004.
Experts believe that copper is emerging as a strategic metal for the global economy due to growing demand in AI, data centers, power grid modernization, and the clean energy sector. In this backdrop, CopperTech Metals' IPO is being considered a center of significant attraction among global investors.
