Bengaluru : TVS Motor Company (TVSM), part of TVS VENU, in partnership with UN
Global Compact Network India, hosted a multi-stakeholder workshop on World
Environment Day 2026 at the TVS Institute for Quality and Leadership, Anekal,
Bengaluru. Aligned with the theme "Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our
Future.", the workshop brought together leaders from business, academia,
policy institutions and civil society to discuss practical pathways for
nature-positive and climate-resilient growth.
The event saw the participation of Sri Eshwar B.
Khandre, Hon'ble Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Government
of Karnataka; Sri Ratnesh Jha, Executive Director, UN Global Compact Network India;
Dr. Vibha Dhawan, Director General, TERI; senior sustainability leaders from
India Inc.; and representatives from PwC, TERI School of Advanced Studies and
TVS Motor Company.
As part of the event, TVS Motor Company released a
white paper titled "Nature Capital as a Strategic Business Imperative
in India: Linking Ecosystem Services, Enterprise Value, and Risk Management in
a Nature-Positive Transition", jointly developed with PwC and TERI
School of Advanced Studies.
Speaking at the event, Thakur Pherwani, Chief
Sustainability Officer, TVS Motor Company, said, "Nature is central to economic
resilience, community well-being and the future of mobility. At TVS Motor
Company, sustainability is embedded into how we think about products,
operations, supply chains and partnerships. The release of our inaugural Task
Force on Nature Related Disclosure (TNFD) -aligned report is an important step
in assessing our nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities
with greater discipline. Through the white paper and today's workshop, we hope
to support a more informed conversation on how Indian businesses can protect
natural capital while enabling long-term growth and value creation."
"The conversation around sustainability is
rapidly evolving from compliance to competitiveness. Through initiatives such
as this workshop, we are witnessing businesses recognise that biodiversity,
ecosystem health and climate resilience are directly linked to long-term
enterprise value. As UN Global Compact Network India completes 25 years of
advancing responsible business practices, collaborations like these reaffirm
the importance of collective action in shaping India’s sustainable future," said Mr. Ratnesh Jha,
Executive Director, UN Global Compact Network India.
The white paper examines the strategic and
financial relevance of nature capital for Indian businesses and financial
institutions. It focuses on the role of ecosystem services such as water,
biodiversity, soil health and climate regulation in supporting business
resilience and long-term value creation. It also reviews the risks linked to
nature loss and ecosystem degradation, and offers a practical view on
integrating nature-related considerations into governance, strategy, risk
management and reporting.
TVS Motor Company also released "Mobility
in Harmony with Nature: TVS Motor Company's Inaugural TNFD Report".
The publication makes TVS Motor Company one of the first companies in the
Indian automotive sector to publish a report aligned with the recommendations
of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures.
TNFD provides a market-led framework for companies
to identify, assess, manage and disclose nature-related dependencies, impacts,
risks and opportunities. For Indian businesses, the adoption of the framework
is increasingly relevant as companies face growing exposure to water stress,
biodiversity loss, land degradation and supply chain disruptions. The report
reflects TVS Motor Company's work to embed nature-related thinking into
business decision-making and improve preparedness for emerging sustainability disclosure
requirements.
TVS Motor
Company continues to advance its sustainability journey with three Indian
manufacturing facilities achieving Zero Waste to Landfill and Net Water
Positive status. Its Nalagarh and Mysuru plants are GreenCo Gold certified,
while Hosur holds the prestigious GreenCo Platinum certification from CII-GBC.

Platinum certification.

Callisto 125 (Indonesia)—have received the GreenPro Type I Ecolabel from
CII-GBC. TVS Motor remains committed to a 1.5°C-aligned decarbonization
pathway, with approximately 97% renewable energy in its Indian operations. The

product design, electric mobility solutions and resource recovery programs.

Vehicle (ELV) and Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) regulations, the

material recovery, recycling, and enhanced circularity across the automotive
value chain.
