Hindustan Zinc Wins Three SABRE Awards 2026 for Corrosion Awareness and Women-in-STEM Campaigns

Mumbai: Hindustan Zinc has been recognised at the SABRE Awards 2026, the international public relations honours co-created by PRCAI and PRovoke Media, with three wins spanning integrated marketing, regional impact and reputation management.

The company's flagship corrosion-awareness campaign, Zung Ke Khilaaf Zinc, won Gold in the Integrated Marketing category and a second Gold in the Southeast Asia category, recognising its reach across the region. Launched around World Corrosion Awareness Day, the campaign set out to make an often-invisible problem visible, using real demonstrations and everyday comparisons to explain how corrosion silently costs India close to 5 percent of its GDP each year, and how zinc galvanization offers a proven line of defence. Since launch, it has grown from an awareness push into a more action-oriented platform, engaging both industry stakeholders and everyday consumers on building corrosion prevention into procurement decisions and infrastructure planning.

Separately, Hindustan Zinc's She Knows the Ground She Stands On initiative won Diamond, the SABRE Awards' top honour, in the Reputation Management category. Launched on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the programme gave young women from premier science and engineering institutions, including IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, MNIT Jaipur, Banasthali Vidyapith, CTAE Udaipur, MLSU Udaipur and MBM Jodhpur, first-hand exposure to mining and metals operations over a 25 to 30 day period. The initiative sits within a broader push at the company, which counts over a quarter of its workforce as women and has set a target of 30 percent representation by 2030.

Together, the three wins point to a consistent thread running through Hindustan Zinc's public communication this year: translating overlooked, technical subjects, corrosion economics and gender representation in core industrial roles, into campaigns built around direct experience rather than abstraction. The company, India's only integrated zinc-lead-silver producer and one of the world's top five silver producers, was among the more prominently recognised Indian corporates like Aditya Birla Group and Godrej Industries Group at this year's SABRE Awards.
