Bank Q1FY27 PAT at ₹7,114 crores up 23% YOY; strong market share gains with
deposits up 18% YOY and advances up 19% YOY
Mumbai: Axis Bank, one of the largest
private sector banks in India, delivered a strong start to FY27, reporting a
Q1FY27 net profit of ₹7,114 crores, up 23% YoY, driven by
positive operating jaws and stable asset quality. Net Interest Income (NII)
grew 8% YoY to ₹14,646 crores, while Core Operating Profit grew 10% YoY and 5%
QoQ to ₹11,122 crores. The Bank continued to gain market share across deposits
and advances, with deposits growing 18% YoY and advances rising 19% YoY,
driving a 20% YoY expansion in the balance sheet to ₹19,21,966 crores.
Asset quality further strengthened, with Gross NPA at 1.28% (down 29 bps
YoY), Net NPA at 0.39% (down 6 bps YoY). The Bank also improved its Return
on Equity (RoE) to 14.16% while maintaining a strong Capital Adequacy Ratio
(CAR) of 16.67%.
Reinforcing
its leadership in digital banking, Axis Bank maintained an approximately 38%
UPI Payer PSP market share, with UPI transaction value growing 48% YoY.
The Bank’s Corporate loan book grew 38% YoY, while the Mid-Corporate
book grew 27% YoY and SME lending increased 25% YoY. The Bank's
domestic subsidiaries also delivered a strong performance, reporting Q1FY27 PAT
of ₹546 crores, up 21% YoY.
During
the quarter, Axis Bank accelerated its focus on building a future-ready
franchise through investments in digital innovation, AI-led transformation and
ecosystem partnerships. Strengthening its Safe Banking proposition, the Bank
became the first leading bank to introduce Aadhaar Face Authentication as a
self-service journey for digitally updating mobile numbers. It also collaborated
with Flipkart and PayU to enable biometric authentication for card payments
through secure OTP-free transactions and launched AI-powered compliance
solutions for current account customers to simplify ReKYC and business profile
updates through intelligent, paperless workflows. The Bank also unveiled its
first Digital Locker-focused branch, offering a differentiated futuristic
banking format with advanced automation, security and convenience.
The
Bank further deepened its engagement with the hospitality and tourism sectors
through its partnership with FHRAI and by hosting the Tourism Promotion &
Expansion Plan Meet in Srinagar to support inclusive and sustainable economic
development in Jammu & Kashmir. It announced a ₹100-crore partnership with
BITS Pilani to establish an advanced Industry Research, Technology & Innovation
Park in Hyderabad and released the fifth edition of the 2025 Burgundy Private
Hurun India 500, a report showcasing India's 500 most valuable companies,
collectively valued at US$3.4 trillion.
The
quarter also marked a significant milestone for the Axis Group. Axis Finance
announced a ₹2,250-crore capital raise from Axis Bank and Kedaara Capital to
support its next phase of growth across retail, MSME and wholesale lending.
The
Bank's efforts were further recognised through multiple industry accolades,
including three Platinum wins at the Infosys Finacle Innovation Awards, two
honours at the PWM WealthTech Awards 2026, and the Financial Express Best
Digital Bank of the Year 2026 award.
