Maruti Suzuki to Launch e-Vitara on December 2: Key Features Revealed

The carmaker has announced that its first all-electric SUV, e-Vitara, will be launched in India on 2 December 2025

What is e-Vitara

  • e-Vitara is Maruti Suzuki’s maiden electric vehicle, a compact/mid-size SUV built on a dedicated electric platform.

  • It’s offered with two battery-pack options: a 49 kWh battery and a 61 kWh battery.

  • The 61 kWh version promises a claimed driving range of up to 500 km on a single charge, making it one of the longest-range EVs in its segment.

Features & Comfort

  • The interior aims to be premium by the manufacturer’s standards: it includes a dual-screen setup (digital instrument cluster + infotainment), ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, a sunroof, wireless phone charging, and a modern cabin layout.

  • For convenience and safety, the e-Vitara will come with advanced features such as Level-2 ADAS including lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, emergency braking etc. It will also have a robust safety structure with multiple airbags, disc brakes, tyre-pressure monitoring, and battery safety systems.

Power & Performance Options

  • The base 49 kWh battery (most likely 2-wheel drive) is meant for city and daily use. The 61 kWh battery available as 2WD and possibly 4WD (depending on variant) gives higher power output and long-range potential.

  • Maruti aims to support e-Vitara buyers with a full EV ecosystem: home-charging solutions, fast-charging network at dealerships, and a wide service network for maintenance support.

Why This Launch Matters

  • This marks a major step for Maruti Suzuki, a brand long known for petrol/diesel cars entering the EV (electric vehicle) segment in a big way.

  • With rising demand for clean mobility and electric vehicles in India, e-Vitara could become a popular choice for buyers looking for a practical, electric SUV with good range and modern features.

  • The expected competitive pricing (in the mid-SUV EV segment) combined with the brand’s widespread service network may make EV adoption easier for many people.
