Union Ministers, Maharashtra's Chief Minister
and Deputy Chief Minister join EKA Mobility and its group companies to unveil a
₹3,500 crore+ manufacturing ecosystem for India's electric commercial mobility
Pune: EKA Mobility, together with Pinnacle Industries Ltd. and its group
companies, inaugurated its six new manufacturing facilities at EKA Avirbhava, a

The inauguration comes at a defining moment
for the company. In H1 FY27, EKA Mobility recorded year-on-year growth of
1,243%, or more than 13-fold. Avirbhava puts in place the manufacturing base
for this growth to continue.

Speaking about the event, Dr.
Sudhir Mehta, Founder and Chairman, EKA Mobility and Group Companies, highlighted,
“EKA Avirbhava marks a defining milestone in
our journey of building a future-ready, globally competitive manufacturing
ecosystem rooted in India. The inauguration of six manufacturing facilities
across our group reflects our unwavering commitment to innovation, indigenous
engineering, sustainable mobility, and manufacturing excellence. These
facilities are more than infrastructure; they represent our vision of creating
world-class capabilities, generating meaningful employment, nurturing talent,
and contributing to India’s emergence as a global manufacturing powerhouse. As
we take this significant step forward, we remain focused on delivering
transformative mobility solutions that create lasting value for our customers,
our nation, and future generations.”
In Sanskrit, EKA means one, and Avirbhava means
emergence, manifestation, or the coming into being of something new. EKA
Avirbhava marks the moment of emergence of #BharatKiEKA, a long-held vision
becoming visible and real. The event marked the culmination
of years of building, investing and engineering bringing to life a
manufacturing ecosystem for India's electric commercial vehicle future.
EKA Mobility & group operates 11
manufacturing facilities spread across 120 acres, 6 of which were inaugurated
at EKA Avirbhava, with the capacity to build more than 40,000 electric vehicles
a year. The group has invested ₹3,500 crore+ in building this ecosystem, making
it one of the largest investments in commercial electric vehicles in the
country. It has also invested more than ₹600 crore in R&D. EKA holds 300+
intellectual properties and offers the largest range of electric commercial
vehicles in India, with 3,000+ vehicles already on the road and 6,000+
employees across the group. With these 11 facilities, EKA expects to create 2.5
lakh+ jobs over the next five years across its operations and wider ecosystem.
The facilities inaugurated span the full value
chain of commercial vehicle manufacturing, from vehicle assembly to interiors,
components and systems:
1.
EKA SCV Plant, Pune: dedicated
to the EKA small commercial vehicle range
2.
EKA Bus & Trucks Plant,
Pune: home to the company's bus and M&HCV truck
platforms
3.
VDL Pinnacle Engineering Plant,
Pune: Focused on automotive engineering, this is a
joint venture between VDL Groep (Netherlands) and Pinnacle Industries
4.
Instor India Plant, Pune:
Manufactures retail store fixtures, displays and storage solutions, as well as automotive
parts including EV bus body structures and IP67-rated battery enclosures
5.
Pinnacle Seating and Interiors
Plant, Pune: Dedicated to seating, interiors and
components for the western region
6.
Pinnacle Interiors Plant,
Pithampur: The parent company's largest facility,
dedicated to seating systems and interiors for buses, trains, tractors,
ambulances, motorhomes and custom vehicles
EKA Mobility has built the widest and most
comprehensive electric commercial vehicle range in the country, across buses,
small commercial vehicles and medium and heavy commercial vehicle trucks. The
company is a Champion OEM under the Government of India's Automotive PLI
Scheme, with PLI certification across all its product platforms.
Speaking about the products, Dr. Mehta added,
“We have always believed that commercial EVs are about more than vehicles.
The diversity of our product portfolio is not an accident. It is a conscious
idea, because to make a real difference, we must impact every Indian and every
traveller. That means looking at mobility holistically: goods and passengers, from
the first mile to the last mile.”
Public transport is the backbone of India.
Until we make it accessible and affordable for all, we will not have achieved
our vision, and no amount of technology matters if it does not reach the people
who depend on it every day. Our products, their performance and their
profitability are an example of how sustainability can be profitable for all:
for the operator, for the passenger and for the country. That is why we have
built all this, the plants, the engineering and the technology, in India, for
India."
Behind the portfolio is a workforce of more
than 6,000 employees across its group, including a 1,000-strong R&D team of
designers and engineers, representing the largest electric commercial vehicle
R&D set-up in India. That in-house capability extends to software. EKA
Connect, the company's own proprietary software, is written in India by EKA
engineers. It monitors more than 1,500 parameters of every running vehicle
every half a second, giving the company and its fleet customers a continuous,
detailed view of each vehicle's performance on the road. Most importantly, the
data stays in India. For state transport undertakings, public fleets and
enterprise customers, vehicle and operational data remains within the country.
The expansion also supports national priorities
in clean mobility, domestic manufacturing and employment, areas in which
commercial vehicles carry outsized weight because of their share of fleet
emissions and intensive daily use.
Avirbhava also reflects EKA's global ambitions.
Its buses are already deployed in Zanzibar and its small commercial vehicles in
Nepal. Assembly plants are being established in South Africa and Australia, extending
the company's manufacturing footprint beyond India and supporting its entry
into new geographies.
EKA has an order book of more than 11,000 buses valued at US$1.7
billion, with deployments across Maharashtra, Delhi, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh,
Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab,
Meghalaya, Odisha and Arunachal Pradesh. EKA’s electric SCVs have recorded more
than 1,500 sales nationwide across passenger mobility, last-mile delivery and
goods transportation.
Backed by 75+ dealerships across India, each a
fully integrated 3S facility (Sales, Service and Spares) purpose-built to
deliver a seamless ownership experience, EKA is bringing customers closer to
its vehicles.
